Some problems with his health eventually interfered with Todd’s ability to meet the physical demands of auto-body work. But of course that didn’t stop him from being constantly drawn to color and light.
The story goes that Todd came across a carton of nail polish bottles of various colors. He shook one and it spilled onto a piece of white paper. He was immediately taken by how it looked, by how the light reflected off its surface. He needed to know what would happen when he added other colors. He is still finding out.
Todd describes his work as entirely experimental and intuitive.
”When I sit down with a piece of canvas in front of me, to be honest, I have no idea of what I am going to do. When I am happy with it, I know that I am done.”
